Five tools, one manageable next step

You do not need to complete everything before asking for help. Start with the meeting email if you are unsure where to begin.

  1. Request a school meeting

An email asking the teacher and SENCO to discuss needs, current support and a review date.

  2. Needs and observations diary

Brief notes about situations, your child’s views, what is difficult and what helps. Include strengths and good days.

  3. School support and review tracker

Record the support, who will provide it, when it starts and how you will review its effect together.

  4. Follow up after a meeting

A short email to confirm actions and identify anything that still needs an answer.

  5. Referral and service tracker

Keep contact dates, responses, waiting information and next steps together without confusing reminders with formal deadlines.
